Our Practice

A place where
family matters are handled with care

Ayara Legal was established to offer families in Chiang Mai a quieter, more considered path through legal difficulty.

Our Story

Founded on the belief that families deserve calm, honest counsel

Ayara Legal was founded in Chiang Mai by a small group of Thai-qualified family law practitioners who saw a need for something different. So many people approaching family legal matters felt rushed, spoken over, or left confused by the process. They wanted somewhere quieter.

The name Ayara carries a sense of care and shelter. That is the spirit behind everything we do — creating a protected space where families can think, ask questions, and make decisions without pressure.

Since opening our doors on Nimmanhaemin Road, we have helped families across Chiang Mai and the wider Northern Thailand region navigate separation, custodial arrangements, family property matters, and civil agreements. Many of our clients are expatriates who needed clear English-language guidance alongside formal Thai legal process.

Our Mission

To give every family access to clear, honest legal support — handled at a pace that respects their emotional circumstances and keeps their wellbeing at the centre.

Our Values

  • Confidentiality in every interaction
  • Plain, honest communication
  • Patience — decisions are never rushed
  • Respect for the family's whole situation
  • Low-conflict approaches where possible

Attorney–Client Privilege

All client communications and case materials are protected under Thai legal professional privilege and our own documented confidentiality policy.

Written Summaries Always

Every consultation produces a written record of what was discussed and the options outlined. Clients leave with clarity, not just a memory of a conversation.

Low-Conflict Approach

Where circumstances allow, we work toward non-adversarial resolutions. Sustained family relationships matter more than winning arguments.

All casework is handled in Thai for formal legal purposes, with full English-language support for international clients throughout their matter.

Family legal support in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand

Ayara Legal serves families across Chiang Mai and the surrounding province. Our offices on Nimmanhaemin Road sit in a quiet area of Suthep, accessible from the old city and the university district, offering a convenient and discreet setting for consultations.

Family law in Thailand operates under the Civil and Commercial Code. Matters such as divorce, child custody, spousal maintenance, property division, and legitimacy proceedings are handled through the family courts. Our practitioners understand both the formal requirements of these processes and the human reality behind each file.

For families where one partner is a foreign national, additional considerations apply — including documentation requirements, residence status, and the interaction between Thai law and home-country legal systems. We help clients understand their position clearly and navigate the process with appropriate care.

Ayara Legal does not pursue adversarial tactics as a default. Our preference is always to find a considered path that limits distress for all family members, particularly where children are involved. When formal representation is necessary, we provide it with patience and full commitment to our client's interests.
